Coach Devin Payton’s Maryland ODP 95 A Team, tournament champions!
The
team won 5-1 over
New Hampshire, 3-0 beating a
tough East Penn team with 3 National team players on their squad, and Sunday
the team won 1-0 over
Virginia
State team. The Maryland
A Team scored 9 goals gave up 1. The Maryland ODP B Team also went undefeated
and gave up no goals in their 3 victories over the June 6-7 weekend at Rider New
Jersey ODP tournament. The scores were: game 1( 2-0 over Eastern New York, Game
2 Maryland B team won 5-0 Over Pennsylvania
West, Maryland B team won 6-0 over West Virginia.
Team scored 13 goals gave up zero against!
The
team played excellent and was the champion of the round group. The coaching
staff included Head Coach Devin Payton & Assistant Coaches Andres
Para –Jonathon Thayil were impressed and excited by the
team’s success with such difficult playing bracket. “The kids played well
together and moved the ball like young professionals in their matches” quoted
from 2 regional staff coaches watching the team play against Eastern Penn &
Virginia States. Now the team is looking forward to the
College
Identification Weekend
, held
July 15-18 in New Jersey where the boys play against another top 100 kids in their
group to make the regional team squad which represents the best players from
the states, from Maine down to Virginia.
The
College Identification
Weekend is specialized, intense technical and tactical training
supplemented with match play, in a competitive environment highlighted by
detailed instruction, for accomplished select and experienced varsity level
players wishing to assess their abilities to play at the collegiate level.
